Cedars - Jebel Ali International Hospital provides the full range of General Surgery i.e. Abdominal & Soft Tissue Surgery, on an elective and emergency basis.

Abdominal Surgery is performed by laparoscopic & open approach, dependent on the underlying disease.
Laparoscopic Surgery ( Key-hole Surgery ) is preferably used for cholecystectomy (removal of gallbladder) and for obesity surgery.
Obesity or Bariatric Surgery is provided for patients who suffer from severe or morbid obesity, which means having a body mass index above 40.
Surgery also may be an option for people with a BMI between 35 and 40, who suffer from life-threatening obesity-related diseases like diabetes, hypertension or sleep apnea. For these patients the procedure of choice is laparoscopic Gastric Banding, implanting an Adjustable Gastric Band, which creates a partitioning of the stomach. The very small top pouch allows only a small amount of food to be ingested at one time. The band is adjust- able according to patients needs ,and the procedure is reversible.
Obese people with a BMI just above 30 are not yet candidates for surgery, but need an effective treatment and control of their overweight. For these patients we provide at our hospital the endoscopically implanted & explanted Intragastric Balloon.
Laparotomy (Open approach) is used for appendectomy, intestinal obstruction etc.
Surgery of the Abdominal wall includes all types of Hernias, which we repair predominantly by mesh implantation.
Anorectal Surgery (hemorrhoids, abscesses & fistulas) and Genito-Urinary Surgery (Circumcision, Hydrocele etc.) rounds off abdominal surgery.
Soft Tissue Surgery provided by us includes for instance operations for goiter, breast tumors, skin & soft tissue tumors, varicous veins and much more. That means that the full spectrum of General & Abdominal Surgery is covered by our hospital, in which a comprehensive diagnostic workup is available (Radiology, including CT-scan, Gastroenterology & Cardiology ).
Our Anesthesiology performs all types of anesthesia (block, regional, spinal, peridural, general ) and an effective postoperative pain management. The full range of postoperative treatment options is guaranteed by our up-to-date Intensive Care Unit.
All in all CEDARS - Jebel Ali International Hospital will provide surgery on a broad basis and on a high level.
As soon as the hospital moves in a new high-tech building in the near future, additional Operative Disciplines ( Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Gynecology & Obstetrics, Urology, Oromaxillary Surgery, ENT ) will be installed.
